Belgium, Tunisia: my two countries. The campaign

As Josephine Baker sang, I can say me too I have two loves: my home country, Belgium and my adopted country (and one I lived the longest ....), Tunisia.

And oddly, the same year, 2010, both are restless political upheavals that change completely the life of these nations

course, there are big differences between the two events.

For Tunisia, crushed for years under a dictatorship and police binding cruel and looting of its economic wealth by a mafia family and unrestrained, the sudden revolt (but long-simmering among youth without a future and desperate to be left out of the company) has issued a dictator and a wall of silence that prevented them from speaking and living.
And if, as in any revolution, the price was sometimes very heavy and has led to some collateral damage (destruction and looting and other excesses), the result is happy and hopeful for a better future : democracy, right to speech, pluralism, wealth redistribution, etc. ....)
It will take "patience, labor, blood and tears" (in the words of Winston Churchill during the war 40 / 45) to rebuild, move forward and regain its dignity.
But the Tunisian youth and the middle class of this small country is sufficiently mature, educated and courageous to do so.
Anyway, I trust them and believe it ..... By

cons for my native country, Belgium which I remain very committed and in which plunge my roots, I am unfortunately far less optimistic ...

Since June 2010, the date of parliamentary elections after the fall of the government mainly because of language issues and the plethora of parties that want to make any concessions, the country has the "sad and ridiculous" record (over 7 months) nation without legitimate government that works better or worse at the option of fruitless discussions and hopeless ...... (And rather more harm than good!)

We talk about regionalization, split, cut hairs, you pay an incalculable number of ministers and parliamentarians who "eat up the nose" all day long, that do not advance one step, but rather retreating, unwilling to make any concessions.

The people, workers, in short almost all Belgians have to suffer in one way or another, this situation adds to the global economic crisis ....
I am not talking about the haves and other large fortunes who continue to get rich on the backs of others ....

In addition, Belgium became the laughingstock of other countries that have more and more difficult to understand the situation! And we own the Belgians have a lot of trouble our way through this mess and explain!

But the majority do not want a separation of the North (Flemish) and southern (French): what the people want is a united Belgium advances, progresses and becomes again what it was after the World War II: A European ones leading countries in the industrial, economic and social development.
short, a small country by size but big in its way of life, is a trilingual country but who could practice the art of compromise between different communities, and seems to have misplaced the recipe!

Well, I'll stop there but I had to speak and I put down what I saw in the Belgian side's frustration and anxiety but also the hope of the Tunisian side. Be

straddling two countries, two cultures, two families is both a source of enrichment but also anxieties and questions .....

Urban birth (I was born in Liege, Belgium) ago "Few years" already ...., I, nevertheless, always loved the countryside, long walks through fields and woods of pine or hardwood forests more luxuriant.

My grandparents owned a large property in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes where as a child I spent many school holidays with my cousins.
In summer, I loved to go exploring with my grandmother or my grandfather to find the clearing where I'd full of raspberries, the undergrowth where abundant blueberries and sunken roads lined with brambles covered fleshy blackberries we stained the hands and lips ....
Fill wicker baskets that can be dismounted while clawing up the fruit to cool, was a pleasure, and we rivaled zeal to be the one who would have the basket the fullest. Then, before returning, we made a crop of wild flowers and foliage to compose bouquets ephemeral.

Revenue from these long walks sometimes 10 miles, tired but happy, my cousins and I sort Plane and our harvest so that our grandmother could prepare the delicious jams I've never found the taste!

winter, other joys awaiting us: the snow, snowball fights, looking for traces of wild animals or birds have left their footprints on the white layer covering the campaign. And sometimes wonder to see emerge, just steps away, a deer, a fox and if we were lucky a majestic deer.

Coming after my marriage settle in Tunisia, I have always lived in town but not in the center. I needed a quieter suburbs with houses in large gardens too accustomed to the green, and passionate about nature and plants, I had a green space in front of my windows, and I finally found "My shoe foot ": a small house surrounded by a large garden ....

Coming from the North, accustomed to the luxuriance of vegetation in temperate countries and very "watered" the Mediterranean countryside 'm full of surprises and wonders: new species of trees and flowers, different flavors, but also a region delightfully reminding me of my childhood Ardennes: the Kroumirie and forests of cork oaks, where I found a bit of scenery and climate of my youth.

Where To Go To Buy Beyblades In Australia 2010

My BookMarks literary ....

Even younger, I always had great difficulty in remembering names and sometimes even people's faces I do not see regularly or that I had not "struck" in a particular way ...

is, I suppose, due to the selective memory that allows us to get to the essence in a busy life where one must carry out several activities simultaneously and where time seems to accelerate constantly. ...

This disadvantage (which can sometimes be an advantage in certain circumstances .....) I always obliged, especially in my business, make plans very detailed class, to put labels on each or use mnemonics to retain the identity of my students as soon as possible, and sometimes to use "tricks of Sioux" to not offend some people at high risk who could not accept that one can forget their name!

Now, having "taken the bottle" I hesitate to say that my memory is that "wilt" and sometimes I have no shame to take notes more frequently, to remember all and everything that makes my life! In this way, I can not sing too often " The whirlwind of life " song, so just and so well sung by the great Jeanne Moreau ...

Since reading is one of my passions, and I realized, reading and sometimes much too fast I forget the title and author of certain works, I decided to do this work regularly and memory to share with you (or not) title, a brief summary and appreciation of books read recently.
Vade retro Alzeihmer ........

"The enterprise of the Indies" by Erik ORSENNA .

historical novel, in which the author speaks of the discovery of America and the life of Christopher Columbus as told by his frère.Très pleasant, easy to read and very interesting for those who love the history and stories about the lives of men and women of passion.

"Labyrinth" by Kate Moss.

Thriller "esoteric" occurring mainly in Carcassonne and mixing real historical facts, the history of the Cathars and the crusade against them in the thirteenth century, an investigation, "police-historical" made by a young archaeologist for English retouver documents kept secret for centuries and by revelations about this dark period in the history of southern France.
Kate Mosse, writer Contemporary English, received an award for this novel at the British Book Awards and is very pleasant to read.

"100 expressions to save" by Bernard Pivot.

Little fun book reminding us of many French expressions that sometimes fall into disuse and which Pivot explains the origin, meaning and reason to keep living with all the verve that is his charm.

"A diamond in the rough" Yvette Szczupak-THOMAS .

memoir of a young orphan adopted after a childhood spent so miserable in different homes, finally adopted in 1942 by a couple Parisian intellectuals who will inform him of the great artists of the era, such as Picasso, Braque, Battle, Paul Eluard ....
fascinating story written in a language very much alive and "reinvented" playing with words: a style very "visual" which in a few words or phrases us into the scene and action ...

"Twilight of an idol" by Michel Onfray.

Book daunting and difficult to read, (I also could not finish it!), Which in my opinion could have counted a few hundred pages instead of 600, which is a diatribe against Freud and his work and is in fact a business outright demolition.
I'm not a fan of Freudian doctrine, far from it, but with this book the author, a philosopher who seems to have certainty (although in my humble opinion, philosophy, is to first doubt, then an attempt to explain life) take, without really substantiate his claim, completely demolishing the man Freud and his doctrines.
short, you understand that this test does not really excited me .....

"T he transfer of the ashes" Fawzi MELLAH .

During playback, I still have not finished that novel. But the beginnings are promising for the lover of historical novels I am.
The author, Tunisian lawyer and political scientist, pays tribute to the monks of Saint Catherine at Sinai and leads us into an intrigue mixing religion, passion, interest, pride and vanity.: Theft of a manuscript of the Bible belonging to the monks and who would retrieve it.
And it's a writer, a Sunni Muslim, who tells us that history often forgotten by the Christian religion, fine example of tolerance and understanding among religions and that some should think ....

That, following the next issue, as stated in the soap .....
